MFW: Sergei Grinko

Last Saturday we attended Sergei Grinko' s fashion show, one of the most appreciated in this low-profile fashion week.

The SS2014 women' s wear collection is called "Rule & Divide", by the Machiavellian motto of "Dividi et Impera", to which the designer connects Goethe's consideration, "merge and rules"; the mood is inspired by contrasts, where the union between what looks apparently different generates a harmonious fusion.

A new concept of sports-glam is presented, through the revisitation of the themes of Romanticism and the words of Goethe's poem "Ein Gleiches", imprinted or embroidered on the fabrics.

The reinterpretation of the "boyish" style - already proposed in the previous FW14 - is brought in this collection, with silk organza jumpers and sweaters and unexpected geometric but feminine shapes.

The sweatshirts and crop top, generally sportswear, are elegantly readapted, thanks to the blue color Swarovski crystal ornaments, which find their first public appearance in this occasion; the just-mentioned stones are used below the visor hats Barbisio for Grinko.

The skirts were very appreciated with their various lengths (mini-midi-long) , but quite always longer in front and shorter at the back, or wide pants-skirt or egg-shaped ones.

The materials are extremely precious, ranging from silk crepe de chine and organza, through doubled piqued, to cotton and silk brocade and three-dimensional effect leather (Calva for Grinko).

The color palette, due to the Romantic influences, is simple and dreamy, with shades of blue and derivates till the purest white.
Accessories are surprising in their variety: the bags range from sports but elegant versions , to 70s shoulder bags , and Swarovski crystals clutches; Mario Valentino ( for Grinko) 's footwear capsule collection includes masculine shoes and open sandals, as well as an exclusive re-edition of the dècolletè, iconic piece of the Neapolitan Maison.
